CAPITULO CXCVII. PRIMER GOL EN EUROPA EN COPA LATINA

Mañana se cumplen 68 años del primer gol en Europa del MADRID.

Si bien la mayoría de la gente cuenta ese primer gol, como el marcado por MIGUEL MUÑOZ en la primera edición de Copa de Europa frente al Servette suizo, lo cierto es que hay que remontarse unos meses antes, concretamente al 22 de Junio de 1955. El MADRID jugaba la COPA LATINA, en el Parque de los Príncipes de París, en el minuto 14 del partido jugado frente a los portugueses del  OS BELENENSES.

La COPA LATINA fue una competición organizada por las federaciones de España, Portugal, Italia y Francia y reconocida por la FIFA, denominada por tal motivo como Copa Europea Latina, de forma que tiene la consideración de competición oficial. Eran los primeros intentos de jugar partidos internacionales por parte de los clubes de un modo oficial, hasta que meses mas tarde comenzase la COPA DE EUROPA. Empezó en 1949 y terminó en 1957 cuando la COPA DE EUROPA, ya había cogido cierto poso, y no tenía sentido mantener esa competición. La COPA LATINA era jugada por los campeones de Liga de esos 4 países.

Participamos 2 veces, y ganamos 2 veces, frente al STADE DE REIMS por 3-1, y BENFICA por 4-3 en los años 55 y 57.  Ya nadie recuerda esa competición, pero fue la primera europea, y como tal merece su renocimiento. También ahí dejamos la huella y conseguimos el primer gol oficial en competición europea.
