CAPITULO CXCVIII. LUIS REGUEIRO

Aprovechando el parón veraniego, hoy vamos a rememorar a uno de esos grandes jugadores de la primera época del MADRID y que seguramente muchos no conoceis. Me refiero a LUIS REGUEIRO, ya que estos dias se cumple el aniversario de su nacimiento ocurrido el 1 de Julio de 1908.

Y es que efectivammente el 1 de julio se cumplieron 115 años del nacimiento de este excelente jugador. Nacido en Irún, jugó un total de 161 partidos oficiales en el MADRID entre 1931 y 1936, en su posición de interior donde siempre destacó. Grandes números presenta este jugador en su etapa en el MADRID, con un balance de 108 victorias, 24 emmates y 29 derrotas, marcando 87 goles.

De LUIS REGUEIRO, se puede decir que era un fantástico interior, con gran inteligencia y creatividad, y que tenía como punto fuerte y más destacado, un fantástico regate en carrera y un tremendo olfato de gol sobre todo de cabeza. Era conocido como “El Corzo Blanco” por su estilizada y fina figura.

Con el MADRID llegó a ganar 2 Ligas, 2 Copas y 5 Campeonatos Mancomunados con el Real Madrid, y fue tambien internacional con  España, donde jugó 25 partidos marcando 16 goles, jugando los Juegos Olímpicos de Amsterdam 1928 y el Mundial de Italia de 1934.

Podemnos decir que formó parte del primer bloque de estrellas que tuvo en el MADRID, coincidiendo en una plantilla en el que también estaban CIRIACO, QUINCOCES, ZAMORA y  OLIVARES, que llegaron a formar un excelente equipo, cuyos exitos hubiesen sido muy grqandes, de no haberse producido el paron por la Guerra Civil.
