CAPITULO LXXXVII. EMPIEZA LA COPA DEL REY

Esta noche empieza la Copa del Rey. Por primera vez en muchos años parece que no somos favoritos. Las bajas por lesión, y los muchos partidos perdidos esta temporada, hacen dudar de la fiabilidad de nuestro equipo. No obstante, hemos de confiar en el Madrid, puesto que los triunfos conseguidos a lo largo de la historia, hacen que tengamos que dar un voto de confianza.

La historia del Madrid en la Copa del Rey está plagada de éxitos, pues no olvidemos que con 28 títulos, es el máximo ganador de esta competición.

Nuestro primer éxito llego en el año 1951, con un equipo todavia en construcción, y en la final jugada en San Sebastian, conseguimos derrotar al Barcelona . Llamada entonces Copa del Generalisimo, se jugaba con una primera fase de Liguilla previa con dos grupos, lo que terminó llevando a los Cuartos de Final donde el Madrid se enfrentó al Covadonga, imponiéndonos por 88-55. En semifinales jugamos contra Liceo Frances consiguiendo la victoria por 81-72. Y así llegamos hasta la final un 13 de Junio de 1951 donde conseguimos la victoria frente al Barcelona por 47-36. De este modo culminabamos une época de triunfos a nivel regional, desde el primer título en el año 1933 al ganar el Campeonato de Castilla

A partir de ahí hemos conseguido 28 títulos. Algunos de ellos muy recordados como la reciente Copa del Rey ganada por el Real Madrid también frente al Barcelona con esa canasta de LLULL en el ultimo segundo, para imponernos por 77-76, y que dejó helados a los azulgranas.

Y que decir de la época dorada entre los años 1956 a 1977 donde se consiguieran 15 títulos. Y D. CLIFFORD LUYK, quien junto a EPI, tiene el record de títulos con 10 entorchados. En definitiva la Copa del Rey no se entiende sin el Madrid, así que aunque este año no seamos favoritos, que nadie nos descarte.
