Ahora que todos los focos estan puestos en PAU GASOL con su retirada, y reconociendo se ha retirado uno de nuestros mejores jugadores, quisiera hacer un pequeño homenaje a otro grande, contemporáneo de GASOL, y que la pandemia ha hecho que se haya retirado sin los focos necesarios.

Me refiero a FELIPE REYES.

Con 2.04 metros de estatura, nadie hubiese dicho, que FELIPE haya acabado siendo uno de los grandes pivots, no ya de España sino de Europa. Llegó al Madrid en un fichaje  polémico, pues procedia del rival en la capital, el Estudiantes. En el año 2004 fichó por el REAL MADRID, debutando con el dorsal 14, y ganando la liga ACB,  Después de esa temporada cambió su dorsal por el número 9. Todos sabemos de su trayectoria, así que me parece que como homenaje, lo mejor no son las palabras de elogio, sino los datos:

En marzo de 2017 se convierte en el jugador que más rebotes ha cogido en la liga ACB, con 4.293.

En noviembre de 2017 se convierte en el jugador con más rebotes de la historia de la Euroliga, con un total de 1604 rebotes capturados.

En mayo de 2018 en la eliminatoria por el título, con 757 partidos en ACB, se convierte en el jugador que más partidos ha jugado en la Liga.

En el año 2018, Felipe Reyes con 38 años, 6 meses y 5 días se convirtió en el jugador del MADRID más veterano en jugar un partido oficial, superando a LLORENTE.

Entre febrero y marzo de 2019 se convierte en el jugador con más partidos disputados en la Euroliga.

En junio de 2019 juega su partido número 1000 con la camiseta blanca.

En julio de 2020, a los 40 años, renueva por un año más su contrato con el Real Madrid. Con 17 temporadas en el equipo, iguala a ROMAY y CORBALAN. Solo le supera por un año RULLAN.

Y que decir de los títulos: 2 Euroligas, 7 ACB, 6 Copas del Rey, además de los muchos exitos con la Selección Española, con un Mundial Sub 19 y un Mundial con la selección absoluta.

Se nos ha jubilado un grande si, GASOL, pero tambien se nos ha jubilado otro grande, D. FELIPE REYES. No lo olvidemos
